Small Neve Broadcast Consoles
The Neve BCM10 and 5302 broadcast consoles (both featured on our photo
page) are versatile small consoles and much in demand. Both have phase
switches that have no effect on the signal to the stereo busses because
the channel amplifier's unbalanced output is used to drive the bus
sends. The phase switch is in the module's balanced output.
The 5302 has a balanced direct output (unlike the BCM10) and one solution
is to disable the unbalanced output inside the module (lift the grey
wire) and use the balanced output to drive the busses. The gain boost
resistor can be removed to reduce the level to normal. Alternatively
(and the only option on the BCM10) the phase switch can be wired in
series with the 10468 mic input transformer. Channel direct outputs
can be added to the BCM10 but, as with the 5302, the level will be
-10dB below normal because of the 10dB loss in the Channel fader.
The differences between the 12 channel 5302 and the 10 channel BCM10
can be reduced, soundwise, by fitting the former with our Class A
conversion kits!
