Hi

Well, how's that for irony? The "cyber ink" had barely dried on the previous post here when I received an email from our agent/distributor in Japan (www.alphamode.net) concerning a recent magazine review of the Neve tm 1073 clones! The review consisted of an original 1073 module and five other products including our GTQ2.

Quoting from our distributor's email....

I'm now sending a review of most powerfull proaudio magazine in Japan .

They did very nice comparison review and they said GTQ2 is the best.
Of course, reviewer telling very softly but they say at last GTQ2 is best.

The engineer who did recording is very famous as heavy NEVE user.

He said that GTQ2 is the best preamp and EQ. Also the price is almost half of any rival's because they are only 1ch.

The GTQ2 is not a clone of a 1073 and uses different circuitry and transformers. We have a 1972 vintage 8028 class A console in our studio that's full of original 1073 and 1084 modules. We are firmly of the opinion that the four channels of GTQ2 we have in the control room sound better than the original Neve tm modules and this is the main selling point of the GTQ2. It doesn't attempt to copy or sound like a 1073... it's better!

Plus the fact that we provide two channels, each with a really useful eq, two outputs per channel and a killer 10Mohm DI, for around the price of a single 1073 clone is the icing on the cake!

Hi

I've noticed a common misconception occuring relating to our products in that we are often grouped into the catagory of Neve tm "cloners". Granted, having worked for the company for over 14 years I am well aquanted, first hand, with their products, but this is not how Aurora products should be viewed.

Our products use transformers and class A discrete transistor circuitry unique to our company. When, for example, I design a compressor I don't look at diagrams of Neve tm compressors, juggle a few components, and call it a new product! I start with a clean sheet of paper and design a really new compressor with better facilities than anything Neve tm had produced in their history!

So, the GTQ2 is NOT a 1073 clone, the GTC2 is NOT a 33609 clone, and the 4 band EQ I shall introduce this year is NOT a 1081 (or any other Neve tm EQ) clone.

Hopefully, when I read another music magazine, I won't read that the studio's GTQ2 is a Neve tm 1073 copy made by "Jeff" Tanner!

Hi

I've attached a photo of a client's GTP8 eight channel microphone pre-amplifier, shown here with a 19" x 1U fader panel. The pots on the panel plug into the insertion jack on the rear of each GTP8 channel.

Hi

We had a really great time at the AES Expo and it was also great to meet you all there!
Now the truck is unloaded and dust settled, I've put a few brief descriptions of our new products in our Ask Geoff forum...

http://www.auroraaudio.net/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID2&conf=DCConfID1

We will update our products page with professional photos and full specs as soon as possible but hope that these first rough notes will whet your appetites!

Many thanks to John Rice (www.DeliriumFix.com) for posting the picture below on GearSlutz... don't worry John, it's a nice photo! I like it!
